The new additions to the family arrived this morning and what care they received. Their little short life has been filled with adventure. Yesterday (5-11-09) they hatched, were boxed up, taken to the post office and then headed this way via big truck. They arrived at the distribution mail center early morning. A nice lady from our local post office drove to the distribution center to get them so they did not have to wait and ride in a truck through many stops.
I arrived at the post office and there were about 15 people in line behind me when the box was opened at the counter...they were so happy to see someone. Then everyone in the post office had to see them.
So then we headed home to their new brooder. They were so cute and unsure of what to do. So, I showed them the water and the nice plate of lettuce as I snapped pictures.
There are several of them that are ubber friendly. All three of them are Anconas. The little Black marked one in the bottom right corner of the above picture, the dusky marked one in front of the waterer and looking up and that precious pale marked on drinking. Those three are just sweet. They want to come to you, be held n petted and then fall asleep in your hand.
They love lettuce! So the adventure begins. They are a bit more on the messy side than the chicks were but that is okay too. We love em! Now to watch them and their personalities and then pick their names...Hopefully, the females will quack with certainty so we do not get a drake with a girl's name. LOL
